The O-Bar is the more trendy of the two 'pubs' in the Plaza Hotel catering
for a more 20-something crowd as opposed to the laid back nature of Grumpy McCalffertys. The bar area is
quite well laid out with an 'upstairs' area laid out with low tables and cushiony low chairs. At 'ground' level you will find a bar and limited high stool and tables seating around the perimmeter. The music is a mix of all sorts of music and the atmosphere is good and although it can take a while to fill up, it usually does after ten. The pints are a bit more expensive than others in the area but taste fine. The service is good by the young, good-looking barstaff. Best recommened for a night out with friends after which you can head down to The Playhouse NiteClub which is accesible through the bar. Entry to The Playhouse costs about €10.
hasn't been open for years, so don't waste good drinkin time lookin for it!...place lying idle...used to be a good spot tho...
A great place to go on a thursday nite with the oldies sounds pumping out , Fridays are good as well a bit packed for my liking. But Sunday is the time to be there 2.50 a drink all nite - it's a life saver after a long weekend.
My FAVOURITE place to go on a Friday or Saturday night. Comfy seats upstairs if you can't face standing downstairs. Great mixture of music. Bar staff are very attentive and not too hard on the eyes. (Check out the barman that looks like Gary Lucey!) Best of all you don't have to go outside and queue for The Playhouse...there's an entrance from inside the Obar!!
