- The best cure that I've ever had is Superquinn sausages the day after.

- OK, this isn't a cure but I think everyone should know this little tid bit of science. I was horrified to learn that the cause of your splitting headache the day after is infact the feeling of your H2O starved brain shriveling quite litterally like a rasin and actually pulling away from the scalp stretching the nerves and causing that oh so familiar pain. Ahhh, the feeling of rasin brain. So I guess the only cure for that is hydration.

- I'm quite stunned to see that nobody has submitted the easiest and most obvious. The full Irish breakfast. Get it. Eat it. Respect the Irish for knowing what it takes. Unless this one cures you, you need just one pint of the black stuff.

- We have not tried out this, But what the hell anything to get rid of a hangover. "The best hangover cure is ice cream, as it fills requirement for thirst and food. And tastes oh so goooood."

- Nothing beats a hangover like a quick dip in the ocean. Although it may be cold, the refreshing feel of salt water actually absorbs into the system, which the body needs to replenish on a hangover day. The cold water against the head cools the overheated bloodcells and when the body is subject to cold conditions, your heart rate slows and your blood presure drops, causing those bursting headaches to ease away. Don't stay in too long tho. 10-15 mins should do it. As for the stomach, well going for a swim generally gets the stomach going, so either you'll digest the contents or pay a visit to the porcelain confessional box.

- Generally the best thing to do is not stuff your face the day after but the night before when you're not nauseous and the best ever is to TRY and drink water during the night in between drinks you'll get major slags for this but you'll be laughing the next day!! All the "cures" for the day after is just too little too late!!

- For every drink you have, try to drink the same in water, honestly. And also a couple of glasses before you go to bed - it prevents dehydration, which is the reason u feel so sick & weak when u wake up.
Now, if u do forget the water, this is said to work a treat, even if it doesnt taste so good. It was published by a health expert in a magazine - shot of olive oil, 1 tbsp tomato sauce, raw egg YOLK, tabasco, worcestershire sauce, vingegar OR lemon juice, salt & pepper. If u dont have all, get as many as u can, they're all set to help different things.

- Water will certainly help prevent the most horrifying aspects of the hangover but if you're anything like me then you'll have about two glasses of water in the earliest stages of your drinking and forget clean about it when vodka greed begins to prevail. If you have a delicate stomach then the kind of greasy food that you may crave first thing (before the grim reality of sobriety kicks in) should be avoided at all costs. It won't prevent the nausea from kicking in; it will merely make throwing up a much more debilitating experience than a water based hurl. The only thing guaranteed to make your hangover abate is sleep - and a lot of it.

- There is nothing like a yop and a big ice pop to get you going on a Monday morning after a hard drinking sesson on the weekend trust me try it and you will see.

- The quick fix for the worst hangovers is Beroca (Vitman Supplement)disolve it in water with 2 Soluble Solpadeine and hey presto, your human again.
Submitted by Sam, Dublin

- A huge drink of yazoo strawberry milkshake or a bowl of heinz tomato soup, if that doesn't work a big greasy fish and chip supper should do the trick.
Submitted by D, Scotland

- I discovered this a while back. The Auld Dubliner does a great Coddle (for those who don't know, it's kind of like a stew but with sausages, and other assorted pork bits, potatoes, carrots, onions and whatever else is to hand). mmm.... Dublin Coddle and a nice pint of Guinness to wash it down. Makes yer dirty hangover go away.

- Get a towel, soak it with cold water and tie it tight around your head!dehydration is causing your brain to shrink and this stretches the nerve endings. The tightness of the towel relieves some of this pressure also you can pull the towel down around your face to block the sunlight(easing the pain in the eyes)and if your so poorly that even water wont stay down you can always suck it!Hey when your desparate you'll try anything!

dublinpubscene Curers:
1. Reincarnation:
Start the day off with a beer, and 2 cls of vodka, rum, whiskey or the like. It sounds horrifying, but the results are astonishing; just a few minutes after you poured down the "medicine", you will already feel a lot better. What actually happens is, that your biological system has locked up, and most people don't go to the toilet unless they're gonna puke. The "medicine" will kickstart your system, and you will feel dizzy the first ½ an hour, and then you'll start visiting the toilet just like you would on any ordinary day. Follow up with a good breakfast consisting of bread, and a little milk. When you get hungry, eat some more bread and you can even put a little something on it, but stay away from high-fat food and snacks! Take a long walk, so your system can start working again.

2. To the stomach and back:
Start the day, with a little coffee, snacks, fruit, yoghurt, cola, candy, a big breakfast and all the things you like. The more fat, the better. Then you will start to feel pretty bad, and then you go driving in the Big White Bus of Porcelain (ie: you put a finger in your throat until you throw up). Well, it may be simple, but it works. Once you've emptied your stomach, you stay away from fat, and all you should eat is bread, soft vegetables and fruit (ie: no onions, and no chili). When you're thirsty drink a little milk, maybe water but not too much.
We do not condone this one at all

3. Aspirins and coffee:
Start the day, with four mugs of coffee at least, and two aspirins. An overdose of aspirins won't help, take no more than the allowed amount. This cure is pretty good, but you won't feel like you've been born again, it will only remove the worst of your headache, and make sure you can still walk without retching.

4. Large Pint Glass of Coke full with Ice and a banana.
This is best utilised when sitting out in the sun on a fine summer morning.

5. Start drinking again.
There's nothing quite like the 'hair of the dog' to get you alive and kicking again. Unfortunately it could lead to a binge and you'll get caught in a cycle and could end up well worse the next day.

6. Stay in bed and keep the curtains closed.
Probably the best option and the one most used with a packet of headache tablets and/or stomach salts. If you have to go somewhere but want to stay in bed, check out our Excuses section.

7. Go for a long walk in the sun.
The sun will make you feel cheerful, the air will clear your head, you will soon forget that your rotten hangover even existed. Find a place with a lovely view, a cliff face or something and get with the power of nature.

8. Live with it.
Don't complain, don't mope around the house feeling sorry for yourself cos your head hurts and your on the telephone to God hourly. Live with it, accept that you have a hangover and that you drank too much. Being honest with yourself certainly works.

9. Brown Bread and Milk.
Although not the best tasting for your dried out, beer breath mouth this handy little remedy will work wonders with your stomach helping to soak up the mess you created down there with all the fast food and alcohol you swallowed the night previously.

10. Pre-emptive strikes.
Drink water before going to bed will help to re-hydrate you, (just don't piss in the bed) and will help fend up the evil hangover from hell.
Alternatively a probably a much safer and cheaper option just don't spend the night out drinking loads of alcohol and eating shite. It really is the only way - but where's the fun in that.

dublinpubscene accept no responsibility for anything that happens as a result of the above remedies, however if you are out walking along a cliff or something don't stray too close to the edge.
