The Twelfth Lock is situated on the Banks of the Royal Canal in Blanchardstown and is quite
a good laid back spot perhaps more ideal as a place to take someone to impress than a mad
night out with friends. The decor is natural and modern and the place is amazingly clean.
We dropped in on a Saturday afternoon and although the menu choice was a bit pretensious
for our tastes, there were plenty of people tucking into the fairly big portions of food.
The pints we got were great and as we had only stopped for one, we soon on our way again.
Should we ever be in the area again, we would drop in again and perhaps sample some of their
fare.
The 12th, great bar to get LOCKED in get it? HA! Ah no, this is part of a new very small hotel right on the Royal Canal, 5-10 mins walk from either blanch/castleknock village. at night u can sit out in the smoking area and there'l more than likely be a few swans out and about. Lights on the canal, and a very peacful atmosphere. Good staff, and a deadly selection of european beverages such as the auld erdinger, budvar, hoergarden and stuff...guinness not great unfortunatley. but deadly atmosphere for a session with the lads.
This pub is ok but I find that the lighting is a bit dim. It would be nice if it was a bit brighter. The pints are good and the food is good but if you really want a good night out in the Castleknock area then I recommend Myo's pub as Myo's has a better atmosphere!
I've been spending a lot of time in Dublin recently due to work. I've visited a lots of pubs in Dublin, which is a must for any visitor. In London or on my visits elsewhere I have never quite as impressed as I was with the atmosphere, design, service, food (need I go on?) of the Twelfth Lock. What a place! What a pint!
A newly opened pub and restaurant locatet directly on the Royal Canal in Castleknock. Its furnished in a modern style, the pubfood is really good and you can get a pint for under € 4. I think its worth to mentioned it on this website.
Very modern in appearance, but warm and inviting as well. Great beer garden- service is unremarkable, but quick. Food's quite good, and reasonably priced despite overall posh appearance of the place. Very clean. Will return time and again.
I work locally to this bar. The bar is years ahead of other bars in the locality in terms of service, food and decor. I'm from Germany and Ireland is meant to have great bars, this is the only one I've visited that has come close. Well worth a visit.
