Situated on James Street in the heart of old Dublin, the Tram bar and lounge has gained a reputation, not just for the quality of its drink, but also as an eatery of choice and as a great place to unwind from the stresses of the working day
Opened in December 2002, the Tram is a modern, stylish bar with a traditional theme set in comfortable surroundings. Benefiting from a multi-levelled design, the pub is spacious, without losing the intimacy that is so attractive in a traditional pub.
The Tram is decorated in rich wood, very much in the traditional style. But with an abundance of comfortable seating and a second bar upstairs, and a state-of-the-art kitchen facilities, the bar goes beyond the traditional bar to offer something truly special.
Stationed between Heuston station, The Guinness Storehouse, The Museum of Modern Art, and the infamous Kilmainham Jail, the pub has already become a favourite haunt for visitors to the capital and as it is conveniently located around the corner from Heuston station and adjacent to the Luas, it is never short of visitors. Vicar street is just down the street so it isa great place to grab a drink and some food before going to a show there.
At the heart of the Tram's success is an inclusive philosophy that has seen the venue hold special introductory nights for both locals and workers from the nearby businesses, including the Digital Hub and Diageo and the hospitals.
The Tram Bar is immensely popular for both lunches and evening meals. With space for up to 110 diners, the establishment has placed the serving of quality food and drink at the core of its business. During the establishment of the venue, head chef David Kennedy had a look around at other pub eateries in Dublin and decided that what was need was something completely different.
As a result the Carvery in the Tram is a blend of classic ingredients making simple food taste great. The Tram also recognises the fact that not everyone is willing to eat a large meal in the middle of the day. To this end the pub features a well-appointed salad bar, which contains a range of salads as well as Quiches, Spanish Omelettes and Tortillas. Food is served from 12pm to 2.30pm daily.
The Tram has recently introduced an Evening Menu that is served form 2.30pm to 8.30pm. Indeed the beauty of any meal in the Tram, whether it is from the evening menu or the carvery is the pleasure you get from eating expertly cooked and presented food in a relaxed and unhurried atmosphere.
Weekends at the Tram have become hugely popular , with a selection of live music and DJs on offer. Look out for some big Live acts coming to the Tram Bar in the coming weeks.
The Tram is also a great venue to watch sport as it has a big screen in the middle of the bar and with a large crowd, it creates a great atmosphere for big matches. It also has plasma screens for viewing too.
