Great pub. Friendly staff. Live music with some great bands.
What a great pub, one of the only pubs around putting really good bands on and never charging in. I used to go the odd time but have found myself goin every weekend its good craic and is always packed on the weekends.
I've been drinking in the Kestrel quite a while now and I find the atmosphere very enjoyable especially at weekends when there are always great live bands on. I also find the staff to be very friendly and efficiant as well as an excellent selection of hot food. I would definitely recommend the Kestrel to anyone looking for a comfortable place to drink, eat or just socialise as you'll also find the clientele very friendly and welcoming.
I have been to this pub a few times and from my very first visit, I found the staff very welcoming. Fair enough the meals were not as nice but there has been a big improvement and the meals have got a lot nicer. I would highly recommend this pub.
Nice looking pub inside though...plenty of seating downstairs and upstairs. Never seems to get really packed though. Very middle of the road. Better off bringing a gang of people with you to liven it up a bit!

It's a real interesting pub. It has a carvery, which I think is the good side of average. An a la carte menu, which is varied, and the food is excellent. One half of the pub is an old school type pub with a big screen for football and blokes supping pints. The other side is more modern and only a small tv. Very good efficient staff and a good string of locals propping up the bar. Its a pub that tries to cover all bases and comes close. Good but far from perfect.
