The Halfway House is situated on Walkinstown Avenue and is a perfect spot for a couple of pints and a chat any time of the day, any day of the week, While they do have a bar and an upstairs lounge, we decided on a couple of pints in the downstairs lounge. The layout of the lounge is a reversed L-shape as you walk in the door with the bar on the right hand side. After ordering our pints, the barman told us that the lounge person would bring them to us and in no time at all (allowing for the Guinness to settle ofcourse), two delicious pints were brought down to us by a lovely lounge girl. The prices were keen and the chatty and relaxed atmosphere suited us on the post-work Friday drink. The only real complaint we had was that the toilets were freezing cold but this is only a mnior gripe and overall, we'll give the Halfway House a thumbs up.

- It has been done up well and the smoking garden is done well for those cold winter nights. The food is absoloutely fab and the service is good. Only downfall is it is incredibly dark and warm..please install more lighting and air con!

- The pub has changed dramtically in recent years - more physically speaking than atmosphere though. It was drab and incredibly boring but it has changed. They have a guitar solo on a Saturday night but upstairs has a bit more life. Good point : It must be the trendiest oldman's club in Ireland. Bad point : expensive for a Guinness in the locality

- Changed, changed utterly!! Gone are the grey tiled floor, the damp wet walls and the frumpy almost hostile barstaff. In is the new TV, sorry screen!! (first ever), stained glass windows, younger and more amiable staff and an altogether nicer pub. while maintaining its smokey porter filled quaintness that made this spot so special and unique , the Halfway House has taken a new lease of life both upstairs and down. Well worth a look but still not anywhere near what u might call, a discobar. Nice quiet tranquil atmospheric.
