The Boars Head on Capel Street is a cosy pub ideal for a couple of pints and a good chat. The service is good and the friendly barstaff pour good pints. It is quite smallish but this adds to it's appeal. It also has an upstairs area if downstairs is full but usually the upstairs fills faster. It has a good mix of crowd and the overall atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. This is a good place to meet a friend for a pint. Also, don't foregt to check out 'The Boars Head' behind the bar, you'll see what I mean.
The Boars Head feels like a local out in the suburbs but it is in the heart of town, and is a great place to have a good pint of whatever and watch the tv, very friendly and chatty staff also
Had a quiet afternoon here i think it would be quite packed at night as it was not to big
This pub was excellent. I was in a tour group of 60 people where one of the people in our group was a relative of the owner of the Boar's Head. We took over the entire upper floor for a 3 1/2 hour "cocktail hour" on a Sunday night. They served us heaping plates of snack food and we hired a guitar player. The staff was wonderful and I would definately go there again.
