The Barge is situated on the banks of the Grand Canal and is a fine spot for an evening of beer and craic.
It is largely spacious inside although more in width than depth. The decor is mainly wooden and while appealing,
it's not something you would notice. The pub has three levels the top level of which was booked for a party
for the evening. The pints are excellently served by the friendly barstaff and taste fine - bit pricey though.
On a hot day or cool evening it always seems as if they're are more people outside on the banks of the canal
than inside, no doubt this will suit smokers but there is no real designated smoking area save a couple of tables.
All said, if you're looking for a place with a party atmosphere and plenty of 'young' people soaking up the fun
this'll be the place for you.
I used to go here quite a bit but I got bored with the place. The music gets a bit predictable after a while and its the same songs everynight. Love the athmosphere though and great looking ladies might make it worthwhile returning . Overall its a brilliant bar.
Has three floors and lots of nooks and crannies. Serves late (2am) at weekends and has a noisy DJ to add to the ambience. Gets a predominately young crowd. Well know for its outside promo displays at festive times produced by drinks companies.Lively place all right. Plenty of woman and men looking to meet, talk and snog. Slightly unusual in that many people stand on the first floor. That's where the room is. A good spot for a bit of action. Inclined to get too packed and certain parts can get very warm and sweaty, especially in the summer.
