Smyths is the best bar in Ranelagh... and the staff are the reason. They're friendly, efficient and really look after you well (as I found out when I lost my money). The food is good and plenty of it. The new rear decked area and beeryard cater for us smokers and the floor staff keep the beer flowing. It's possible to spend the whole night outside at the back with the beer being brought to you and only going inside to the toilets... which are spotless. I wouldn't go into any other pub in Ranelagh now.
Chic, cosmopolitan, carefree and kitschy. Now it may not suit all you die hard music stomping people but Smyth's in Ranelagh is a really nice place to chill out when the weather gets hot, work gets stressful or you just fancy a nice pint, a read of the paper or striking up a conversation with the fairer sex.
A traditional wooden décor, a recent face lift on the floor, comfortable seats and just a hint of must in the air, a cool breeze flowing through the open front and back doors, lots of secluded nooks and crannies and a cast of bar fly's to rival any episode of cheers who can be seen in all there originality seven nights a week.
