An excellent example of how to run a pub in Dublin without bowing to trendy ideals. Searsons is a top location at any time, but especially before/after Football or Rugby internationals at Landsdowne road. It's spacious on the inside, not too expensive and has a big smoking area out the back. Should also be commended for its atmosphere, especially when busy. The only downside is that one or two of the bar staff, who are obviously fairly new to the place, have serious attitude problems that need sorting out.
I found Searsons to be an excellent establishment, it is the right size i.e not too big coupled with a good mix of suits, regulars and young people. The staff are very friendly and the drinks menu is quite comprehensive ranging from wines by the large bottle through standard fair to well mixed cocktails. It is no more expensive than other pubs in the area and the talent and atmosphere at the weekend is unsurpassed. In short a pub not to be missed.
Excellent. A big pub that thankfully doesn't stray into superpub territory. Plus the bar staff are professional and bloody good looking :-). Prices are high enough, but reasonable for the location. Good mixed crowd.
This is Dublin's BEST and nicest pub without any question, I lived in Dublin from may-2001/Sep-2002 And I was always have great fun at Searsons. I went back to Dublin on Holliday last week and I went in to the pub and it had different staff but still the BEST. Keep up the good work...... Crazy Swede.
A little out of town but worth the trip. Good atmosphere with normal Dublin clientele. Cosy seating arrangements at front, long nightclub style bar in the middle. Bar staff competent. Warning: Prices increase by 10% after 11pm on weekends, which is a shame.
After 3 dodgy tasting pints of different varieties I decided to have a bottled beer instead. Upon asking what bottled beers were available the surly and disinterested bar man replied 'Well what do you want?'
My question politely answered would have been nice...Such an unhelpful attitude means I won't be back to Searsons in a hurry.
This pub has been changed from traditional lounge and bar to be open plan with a huge extension out the back. The old Victorian gantry so lovely but apart from that and the remaining snug it's not great. Get really busy before and after matches at Landsdowne Rd. And can be quite busy at weekend. Apart from the old bar area the crowd is mostly young.
