Panama is the latest bar to open in Dublin and although it looks small on
the outside it actually opens up in lenght to reveal an upstairs and a downstairs.
It is located on Bachelors Walk beside The Bachelor Inn
and the difference between the two is huge.
Panana is a well lit place and has a stylish wooden look adds to the atmosphere.
The pints are a bit expensive but you'd expect this just by looking in the door.
The barstaff are friendly and the service good. The seating is laid out down the sides
and is fine although when it's packed it is hard to find a stand ing areaand the
'bridge' looking over the basement level looks good.
There's all sorts of pictures and Panamian images on the walls that are not overly
noticable but are worth a look at. Panama is the ideal spot for 18-30 year olds to party the night away with a good party atmosphere and the music blasting.
This pub is fantastic, very friendly staff, can get a bit to full upstairs because its so skinny, music is pretty good and the cocktails are fab.
This bar is one of the friendliest in Dublin. Plus the barmen are all hotties!!!! wes we love you!!
I've just returned to Australia after living in dublin for 2.5 years panama was my chears the staff always had a smile for me and all customers, a shoulder to cry on an an ear to beat as one of there regular customers i can recomend and guarantee a great time and service for food and drink.
It is a good place, a different one. I thing must have a photo of Luis C. Russell (was born on Bocas del Toro Province, Panama), who re-built concept and music of jazz worldwide.
This is a fantastic bar situated in the heart of dublin. It is in an ideal location so makes for a great meeting place. Ideal for a date, or just a night of with some mates. Great music, good food and some of the friendliest staff i've ever come across i'll definitely be back time and again!!
I have been going to this bar for about 3 months now and i have to say it is such a good place to go with the girls for a dance!! Its never too packed and the dj is exellent!!!! Pity it closes at 2 but its a small price to pay! Great spot!
The first time i went to panama, I thought the music was excellent, it's whole decor and interior was really nice, it was great to see such nice bloke talent there as well!! The whole atmosphere was just brill, I've been there every saturday nite and it just gets better and better, the barmen are really cute
The bar is the best. The music is great, the staff are the best and the most outgoing I've met and you are bound to enjoy a good night when you enter their doors.
Panama has just opened in time for the Christmas rush.
It has a pale wooden front, is squashed up against the Bachelors Inn and makes a very interesting juxtaposition. The theme of the bar is rather strange but interesting and fresh none the less. The décor evokes pre-revolution Panama. In a charming move all the bar-staff wear Panama hats with the bouncers going as far as donning spats for the full 1950’s flavour. The Panamanian theme is continued with a life-size portrait of General Noriega, in jovial mood, behind the bar. There are many other political references too, like pictures of Omar Torrijos and Jimmy Carter signing the Panama Canal Treaty in 1977. The worlds most famous canal is never far away with pictures of it from the air, from the ground, in construction and in completion, dotted all over the bar. There is even a copy of the original architect’s drawings for the canal beside the ladies (senoritas) toilets. Speaking of toilets, it’s worth visiting the bar alone to visit the gents (caballeros) toilets. There are six life-size ceramic Panamanian country peasants holding large wicker-looking baskets which are the urinals. I kid you not! The whole Panama experience is topped off by a duke box in the corner that only has original records by Gladys Knight. I asked the barman about this and he told me that Gladys Knight is huge in Panama and has been since the sixties. A surreal experience indeed. Top marks
Called in on Saturday (3pm - not that busy), waited for 10 minutes to be server, called over a waitress. "I'll be with you in a minute." After almost ten more minutes, I got the same answer from the other waitress. So we left. Passed on Monday and decided to call in. It took ten minutes to ORDER two coffees, partly because the server was so slow, but mainly because she was having a chat with the workmate right beside me. I don't think I will be going back.
Spent the best part of two days in their watching the Rugby on 11/10 and 12/10 2003 and was given great service and thoroughly enjoyed the visit. One of the most interesting pubs i have been in in a long time. Joanne, one of the waitresses is beautiful, and i would visit again just to see her!!!!!
Have to agree about the woeful service here - the staff may look good but they are only interested in themselves - not the customers. Had to re-order my drink twice as the bar-girl was too busy preening herself to remember what we asked for - bad manners - bad attitude - bad atmosphere. Plus the glass was filthy and had the remains of at least two other women on it ( a hot pink and a browny lipstick - turned my stomach as I had already taken a few sips when I noticed.) Decor is no big deal same old wood - wood and more wood - music dire and all in all we were much happier when we took ourselves off to another pub. This place gives Dublin pubs a bad name - avoid at all costs.
Panama Bar what a gem!! What can I say, great craic, great staff and great service!!! I'll definitely be going back.
