Review:
Being invited to The Grand Central on a Friday night for a private celebration
seemed ideal to me, as I could easily get there courtesy of the Luas line plus I was
meeting up with friends. After getting off at the Abbey Street Luas stop, I made
the short walk to the Grand Central and upon entering the door headed downstairs to
a great 'function' room with the bar area located in the middle. I ordered a stout
and was given it rather quickly - what's going on? - only to be advised that it
had been just poured by mistake but if I didn't like it, I could return it. No need
it was perfect. The barstaff were excellent remembering the rounds and even mixing up some new shots for us as the night went on. The music too was excellent party fodder (if a little loud) encouraging all to strutt their stuff on the dancefloor. Our only small gripe was the lack of an ashtray at the front door for smokes although there was shelter - the bouncers were sound too. All in all, this an excellent pub we'd wholeheartedly recommend for a night out any day of the week.

- You must go here at least once. i never expected the place to look as it did and it make you want to win the lottery so life could always be like this.
- This place is amazing. The decor is out of this world. As it was the old bank it was a very good idea in keeping with that theme. This place caters for all. It's relaxing but with a nice buzz upstairs and then you have the disco bar down stairs. One of my fav weekend spots.
- As I walked in this place first time, I was fascinated.vThe whole place is just amazing. 2 sit in a bar like this makes u feel like a moviestar in the good old days.
- This place has huge potential. Small club downstairs, but would love to hear a bit more r&b music. Nice lounge upstairs but couldn't hear the music properly and the sound is awful. It lacked atmosphere and if it is to become a major venue, then it better get it's sound corrected. Will return if there's more single girls there.
- Liked this place a lot. Nice crowd and music was varied, everything from House to r&b. Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Drink prices are reasonable for a city centre club. Worth a look at weekends.
- Lovely bar, nice clientele, but no atmosphere .Football was showing on the plasma screens but no sound, instead we were subjected to background music which was very low. Never knew there was a club there until I went to the toilet, its small and sexy but 70's music is not our thing so we didn't stay. Could do with a few clubbers to make it worth talking about.
- This pub is amazing. The decor is very in keeping with the fact that this building was once a bank. In fact downstairs there are still safe doors to be seen. The drink is very cheap for a city centre location. On the doorstep of nightlinks and taxis. Staff are friendly and helpful and it's an all round great pub. The customers are working locally in banks and businesses and there is a strict door policy. I have seen a few media faces and with surrounding modelling agencies allot of pretty girls in there but then with its location you never know who you'll be having a pint with. There is a nightclub downstairs and again the drink is still cheap and there is no cover charge. Great value for its location on Dublin's main street. This pub was only open this year(2004) and I think its a 'stayer' and should definitely be in the running with the 'super pubs' At the moment though its still Dublin's best kept secret, and I kinda like it that way!
