Late Bar with Music
Dublin’s first and only southern hemisphere bar, located under the Stephens Green Shopping Centre, Down Under in Major Toms is a mecca of all things Australian, New Zealand and South African. Specialising in their most popular beers such as VB, Lion Red, Castle and Crown Lager and lots of other favourites!
Big Screens bring you right into the action of all the big sporting events from the Tri-Nations, NRL, Super 12's and Aussie Rules. The jukebox pumps out a mix of classics such as Cold Chisel, The Exponents and right up to the modern sounds such as Powderfinger and Matchbox 20. Lots of Aussies, Kiwis and Saffa's living in Dublin have claimed this bar as their own, loved by locals and backpackers of all ages. The relaxed Down Under vibe is well evident. Casual is trendy here, shorts and baseball hats are evident in large numbers.

Down Under is situated on South King Street directly underneath
the Stephens Green Shopping Centre. Upon entering (you have to pay after 11) you
will walk downstairs into a large area with a circular bar in the centre. There is not
too much seating but this does not matter as the quality music will have you bopping
away regardless. The pints are okay but they are a bit on the dear side. It also has
a fine selection of cocktails and Aussie beers. The service by the friendly barstaff
is quick although at later times, it can be a bit slow due to the crowds. At the end
of the day, this is a good place to finish off a night out in as it is open late.
A spacious outdoor seating area has been added, no doubt for smokers.
Major toms is an old pub taken over by new owners and given a new name!It is situated at the back of the Stephen's Green shoppin centre! This is an amazing bar!it is decorated with lights,t.v's and old motorbikes on shelves!the staff are great, they are fast, friendly and effecient! Some of them are also showmen, they juggle the bottles and mix cocktails with such flair i've only ever seen in Tom Criuse's film ''Cocktail''!The drinks are reasonably priced with special offers all the time!As 11:30 approaches the bar slowly becomes a nightclub!i would reccomend Major Tom's to anybody looking for a great fun filled night out with friends!also if you do decide to visit, look up a certain barman by tthe name of slim (great entertainment) Enjoy the party atmosphere!!!!!
Usually hopping from 10.30 at the weekends. Being free in until 2.30am was a great attraction. Loud music and everybody eying each other up. Not for the shy and retiring. Not as good as it used to be. An out and out pick up place. Don't expect to have in-depth conversations with anyone. Looks are fairly important especially for the blokes.
