Devitts on Camden Street is a great little pub for a chat and a couple of pints. The atmosphere is relaxed and the sound of conversation is all that fills the air. The pints are great and the service is grand. The bar is quite long and the seating area is quite spacious. It is a real 'classic' pub with no gimmicks to promote itself other than the fact is it is a drinkers pub in very sense of the word. Recommended for a quiet pint or as a meeting place.
As a member of a group of high-school teachers, I was in Dublin in April 2007. I had prepared my a private "pub-guide", using this website and went in to "Devitts" on my own, early on a thursday night. The girl behind the bar was genuinely very friendly and really made me feel welcome. I then walked back to the hotel and told my friends about this place and it ended up with 35 (!) Norwegians having a fantastic evening! Friendly people, great music and atmosphere! I'll be back!
This is a great little pub. Great to watch sport whether it be GAA, Soccer, Rugby you name it. Was in it before the smoking ban was very smokey only problem then. Great Beer not too expensive, food menu very limited. Bar staff friendly real old Dublin pub with a modern vibe to it. I'd never been but it was my boyfriends local when he was in college. Everyone is made feel welcome in this pub.
