Description:
Music with Late Bar
Review:
Break for the Border is a super-pub, in that it is huge with a bar area, a night club and a restaurant. It is located on Stephen St just around the corner from the Stephens Green Shopping Centre. There is a fun loving atmosphere inside with all the latest chart sounds being played. It is open late some nights of the week however there is an entry charge at the weekends after eight.
It has recently been given a makeover and when we dropped in on a Saturday afternoon it was empty but you could see the leather seats and the updated decor in all it's glory. The barstaff were friendly, even asking us if we'd like another after finishing our first but given the time of day and the price for a pint we decided to move on. The pints tasted fine but the prices did leave a bit of a sour tastem, still you can see where they spent the money, if you want to give the benefit of the doubt.
Break for the Border is ideal for a night out with a large group of friends or colleagues given that it has everything you want under one roof and if you are there on the right night there might be a live band.
This pub is wheelchair accessible.

Public Reviews:
- I was part of a group of 14 ladies who were out on my best friends hen night. We went on the Sat night and had a fantastic time, the music was varied which was ideal because we had different age groups in our party. we didn't find the drink prices too bad either, we danced til we dropped!

- This is a party pub. Famed for the hen and stag parties. Worth going in if you want a laugh. Has a night club down stairs but the groundfloor has a dance floor too and is usually quite good.

- Avoid. The drink is one of the most expensive in Dublin and it goes up almost every hour. Way too crowded. Be prepared to pay €6 for a pint when you walk in here.

- I call this place Hen Night City. On weekends you'll always see more than 1 grp of Hens so if you wanna try to pull a Hen just here for the wkend this is the place cos Hen's love to meet men. Gets REALLY crowded though but upstairs is nice and quiet if you are on a date, there are sofas there too.

- : This is the sort of place that makes ireland the rip-off capital of the world. How DARE they charge 6 quid a pint for lager? In addition, the place is stuffy ,sweaty and usually crammed with the sort of people you see walking around later with thier shirts off.

- Can be very lively at the weekends. Door policy can be strict. However can be a bit too packed and getting drink can be slow. Worth a visit for mixed groups. Very popular now for watching sports events as it has a large screen and several TV's. Can get just too crowded around the bar. Unless you're lucky to get a corner for your gang, you'll be shoved out of it.
