There's nothing laid back about Old Blue Moses, variously described as "A fusion of Blues Rock and an exocet missile "(Blues in The News) and "A veritable mountain of musical delight"(Time Out), this 9 piece band of blues rock stompers owe their roots as much to their local pub landlord (who brought them together) as well as to the heroes of their blues orientated youth.
Formed in 2001 by enigmatic founder members Martin Hayles (Lead Vocals), "Rocket" Ron Hall (Acoustic Rhythm) and Mick "Fingers" Brennan (Lead Guitar) they were rapidly augmented by a wealth of talent culled from the southern counties. There was no plan, no master design, but what gradually appeared, and has been going down a storm is the wall of sound that has become their trademark. The enigma that is OBM, is that they defy pigeon holing, blues, rock, soul, jazz who knows .....but what is apparent is their love of music and their ability to connect with audiences who crave live music.
From the influences of the Blues Masters (Sonny Boy Williamson, John Lee Hooker to name but two) and the hard rockin' of the Stones and the funk of The Average White Band and beyond, their experience shines through in reworked versions of much cherished numbers and original material. In short, on stage you can see they enjoy every minute of it!
Its been a busy few years for the band, playing alongside favourites such as The Mighty 45's, The Daniel Smith Blues Band and American singer songwriters Dan Bern and Joe D'Urso and Stone Caravan, The Inmates, Tom Nolan and The Bluescasters, The Downliner Sect, The Mickey Kemp Band and Jamie Marshall they are always invited back a second
Now entering their fourth year of performances around the UK, they have built an awesome reputation for their live shows. Hardly surprising, with over 40 years experience in the industry.
