The Mouse were formed in the village of Kill Co. Kildare in August 2000. They quickly gained a reputation as an energetic, funky live act that was trying to take their music in a different direction that incorporates funk, rock, jazz, soul, ska and dance into an unforgettable music experience.
After three years writing, gigging, and recording with different musicians they have become one of Irelands best up and coming live acts, headlining a series of successful gigs in renound Dublin venues such as Whelan's and The Village and completing their first nationwide tour in April of last year which included Waterford, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Tipperary, Westmeath and Dublin. The band have also headlined an Arts festival in Wicklow in June and also supported well known Irish Band The Hothouse Flowers for the burning man fund raiser in Dublin that was held in the Village.
The band released their first demo "Astronauts" in 2002 and received The Hot press demo of the fortnight. A song from the demo Cereal Killer" was also chosen by well known English, internet record label/radio station; Matchbox Recordings, for a compilations of unsigned bands from all over the world. The Matchbox website said, "The rhythm section is funky and groovy, retro and catchy, this is the way it's supposed to be. Organic, original, authentic, popy, real music from The Mouse" The song went on to reach the No. 1 Spot on the Matchbox Internet chart.
The band have recorded their second demo "100%" Champion and have recently returned from a very successful series of gigs in Boston, where they hope to return for further gigs in September. They are also set for an Irish tour in June with American band The Slip and a tour of Holland in December. The Mouse are currently in studio recording their first e.p. Which they hope to release this June.
