There is a lot that can and should be said about Dublin Buses but
as we're only interested in making sure you get home safely we'll
deal with them another time.
Dublin Bus offers two 'services' - a regular daytime service
and a Nitelink service and as we are trying to get you home from
a pub we'll start with the Nitelink...
The Nitelink Buses begin servicing at 12.30 a.m. running every half hour
until the last one leaves about 4.30 a.m.
The Nitelink Buses are special Buses that service the different
zones of the city. Check local listings for your bus number.
They can generally be found around the D'Olier Street,
College Green area for trips to the Southside and Westmoreland Street for
the Northside service.
The price of a ticket is 4 Euro which can be bought when getting on to
the bus or at a nearby ticket bus.
They are a handy way of saving 'taxi-money' and are good alternative
to searching for a taxi at 2 o'clock in the morning.
They are very punctual and almost always leave on time so if you do
miss one - you will be waiting another half an hour for one!
The Daytime Buses start running at about 6.30 a.m. The last bus at
night generally leaves the City Centre at the 11.30 p.m. mark.
Check local time tables for exact times.
It is worthwhile remembering that the majority of Dublin Buses
will only take exact change. This is generally not a problem after
a night drinking though.
Fares range from 75 cents to €1.65 although on some 'out of the way' routes
this rises to €3.30.
Daily and weekly bus passes can be bought in most newsagents.
